Hi, we're heading to Prague for our first visit early April 2011. Am just trying to decide whether to book 3 or 4 nights - can anyone advise, is there enough to see if we have 3 full days there - we'll be arriving by train and not really wanting to make day trips (unless a very short distance by train or bus) as we are already doing a lot of that at other destinations.

Prague as everybody says is very walkable, and if you were planing to visit three European countries in one week, two days would have to do. It all depends on your other plans and your style of travel. In my opinion three days in Prague is a start. 3-4 days is what I usually spent in the suggestion of 4 days in berlin (including 1 in pottsdam), 1 day in dresden, 3 days in prague and 3 days in vienna is a good one. in the day in prague, you wonder around looking at the historical buildings. you can plan for one day to look round the castle and the castle area and one day for the old town at least. there is plenty to see.

Visiting The Prague Castle is an obvious (but worthy) option to fill your day. The architecture alone is enough to impress any patron but add in the thousands of years of history and the UNESCO World Heritage site badge of honor and you have yourself a well-rounded historical must-see. Prices are also much higher as all its hotels, streets, and tourist sights are packed. As such, the best time to visit Prague is in either spring or autumn when the flowers are blossoming or the trees are turning a gorgeous golden color.
