I actually prefer the 7 Black because of the replaceable lens. I have smashed & replaced the lens at least 3 times, for $15 a pop, as opposed to do a full Best Buy swap for $40 on the 8. Stabilization on the 8 is a BIT better, but honestly, not really that noticeable. Both are excellent cameras.
